Scott Batykefer formed Sweetwater Express as an extension of his family’s 20 year old business. Similar to Todd McEvoy of the Dallas, Texas office of Sweetwater Express, Scott also comes from two generations of truck drivers. Following in the steps of his grandfather and his father, he found himself working in the transportation industry at an early age. From working for a local trucking and rigging company as a teenager to working the docks for RPS in the late ‘80s, he has seen all sides of the outside world of the industry. Taking to the offices as an assistant terminal manager, Scott came to learn the inside workings of the business.
 
Starting with a relationship with Jones Motor Company, the nation’s oldest major carrier, our agency was able to give flatbed services extending 600 miles from Pittsburgh to many of the major steel and industry areas east of the Mississippi. As the customer base grew and the opportunity arose, Scott became an agent for Landstar Inway. Since the year 2000, with the strength of both companies, Sweetwater Express has expanded to incorporate a full range of equipment and services. From flatbeds to vans and from stepdecks to RGNs, the marriage of old style management and new age technology has given our agency a broad ability to service our customer’s needs.
 
Ralph Batykefer learned about trucking from his father and father-in-law. His father ran his own salvage company and at an early age, Ralph, was up in the seat honing his abilities as a driver. Through the 1960’s and into the early 1970’s, Ralph spent his summers pulling dump trailers and the winters hauling steel in the Northeast. When given the opportunity, he took a job with Werner Continental as a company dispatcher. After seeing companies and management changes he struck out on his own starting REB Trucking Agency in 1983. With his experience as a driver and dispatcher, it was easy for him to negotiate fair rates and provide good business for both the customers and the trucks. This is the winning combination that has made Sweetwater Express possible.
 
Mazie Batykefer came to work with Ralph and R.E.B. Trucking Agency from the beginning. What started out as a part time job has become a full time dedication. Her persistence in finding freight and keeping the drivers busy is her strength. She is a pleasant voice for customers and drivers alike and has given the template on what others can measure customer service and reliability. Mazie has lent her personal touch to trucking turning independent and hard working drivers and owner operators into a team of highly reliable and extremely professional partners in business.
